Double Trouble Sub Frequency Response
« on: 9 Aug 2025, 12:30 pm »
What is the usable frequency response of the Double Trouble Sub?  I have BD Design mid/high horns currently sitting on Onken base cabinets and am curious about replacing the Onkens with the double trouble IF the upper frequency response is high enough.  My horns go down to about 200Hz so I would need the Double Trouble to get to +/- 800Hz for a smooth transition.  Thanks in advance.

The double troubles are subs, and you can't expect any subwoofer to play anywhere near 800Hz. They may play up to 200Hz or 250Hz, which is higher than most subs.

Wow, I love that classy color on the BD horn.  What is it you're trying to fix or improve upon?  I would think introducing bass DSP/room correction would be one way..

Wow, more than anything, you need some room treatment.

The open baffle servo subs can be crossed at the 200Hz point, but they also need to be pulled a little further out into the room than that.

An empty corner with zero treatment is not going to be good for the bass region either, regardless of what you are using. I would do something about that first.
