After patiently searching and waiting, I purchased a very nice pre-owned pair of SALKS (HT2-TL) a few weeks ago. Currently running them with a Van Alstine SET-400 amp and T-10 tube pre-amp and they sound amazing. Clarity, detail, resolution, but nothing harsh. I can listen for hours at a time.

Back up about 50 years to intermission between bands at a rock concert inside Vet's Auditorium. They were playing Jeff Beck's classic "Freeway Jam" at moderately low volume. The guitar and bass sounded great, but I was struck by the kick drum force and clarity. Not the usual distortion from playing excessively loud. The HT2-TL are the first speaker of many I have owned that remind me of this. From a pair of 7" woofers. I don't listen to rock as much these days, mostly acoustic guitar, classical, jazz, r and b. It all sounds good on the SALKS. And they are beautiful to look at.
