I have Ayre CX-7eMP CD player and I can say only superlatives about it. Couple of days ago I took one CD from my collection which, I think, never played on my Ayre before. So, my CD player couldn't read that disc and prepare it for playback. Just to say, I've never had such a problem with any other CD. I tried another CDs randomly and they were okay. However I contacted Ayre's Service Manager and he replied immediatelly. Big big plus for Ayre customer service. He said that there are some CDs which are made out of tolerances regarding Redbook standard and CD players have different abilities to read them and that cd mastering is all over the map now too. Finally he suggested me to make a CD-R copy of troubled CD and see if it plays. If it does, the original pressed CD is probably out of tolerance. If it does not, then that indicates a mastering issue. He didn't think that something's wrong with a laser. I made a CD-R copy and that copy plays without any problem by my Ayre and became an equal member of my collection.
