I am new to home theater and I looking for a receiver. With all the great comments here about the JVC F10 I was thinking of getting one. After reading the manual and some of discussions here I have a few questions:
- I have a cheap DVD player the does not have multi out. It only has digital out and stereo out. I know the recommendation for the F10 is to use DVD-multi in but since I don’t have it I was wondering if the following would work. If hook my DVD to Audio in (just stereo, not multi) and also to the Digital in, then when watching a movie I would set the F10 to digital input to get the DTS signal and when listening to music CDs set the F10 to analog input. Does this make sense? Would this give me the better sound for music CDs? Would the movies still sound good enough, or do I need to invest in a new DVD? I really don’t want to get a new DVD player also. I would probably go with the panny xr50 which I have heard handles digital in better.
- I also saw some comments here that some people were having problems getting their subs to work in certain configurations. Would the F10 drive the sub out for both music and movies given my above setup?
Sorry for all the newbie questions. I would appreciate any help you can over before I buy.
Thanks
Tom
