There's a happy review of these great speakers on the Soundstage! website.  I've had the chance to listen to them closely on several occasions at Phil's place (you know, PhilNYC of Sonic Spirits fame).  I love 'em.  They're better in several respects than my Meadowlark Blue Herons and cost less than those did to boot.  Unfortunately they aren't widely available in the US.  Phil is one of the few dealers.  The review is highly positive but didn't capture their essence in my view.  Despite being fairly large floorstanders they image brilliantly, disappearing into a vast soundscape when powered by Phil's swank Dodson DAC and big-ass Blue Circle hybrid electronics.  I'm a sucker for that 3-d illusion and these speakers deliver it in spades along with enough clean detailed bass to loosen your liver and shake your spleen.

Daniel,

All you need to do is be the doc to help the people with loose spleens and livers and you could easily afford a second set of speakers.

Congratulation to the Focus Audio desing team. That's a well deserved positive review. I have heard FA speakers coulple of time at the show in Phil's Sonic Spirits room. I believe the 888 was at the '04 show... Phil correct me if I'm worng. And than smaller one and monitor this year. They all sound great and well finished.

Hey! Phil I'm looking forward to listening to the FA speaker and BC amp/pre on the up coming "Rave".... well after the BBQ of cause

Take care,
Buddy :thumb:

Daniel, thanks for posting about the review!

zybar, how about a second pair of speakers?

SET Man, yes, those were the FS-888's at last year's Stereophile show.  Honestly, they were way too big for that room...I think we got considerably better sound this year with the considerably less-expensive Focus FS-78SE speakers because they fit the room better...

The BBQ will be fun...and I've re-treated my main listening room, so I am looking forward to everyone's thoughts...personally, I think it sounds *much* better than before... :D

A second set?

I already have the following in house:

Salk Sound HT3's (not for sale)
VMPS RM 40's (for sale)
VMPS Larger sub (for sale)
Silverline Sonata II (for sale)
JM Reynaud Twins Mk II (not for sale)

If I buy more speakers, they better be big enough to be buried in as the wife will kill me!  :rotflmao:

Hey, that's the argument I used for the Alons!  I told her that a good coffin sold for about $5000, and we got three included with the system  :D

They are taking up so much room in our garage that I've thought about burying them in the yard.  Anyone have a corpse (or three of them) they want to dispose of for a small fee
