Thanks.

I do not know how to do this.  The only screen available to me are the input selections.  I see no way to leave input and go elsewhere.

Have you looked at the manual.  Here is where you can look at it.

You want the one that says Direct Stream DAC and hit download.

To change menu's on the screen, there is a small rough round Icon on the upper left.  Hitting that will should change the menus.  Also, depending upon how old you mac mini is, it might not have the proper driver.  Please give PS Audio a call and they will help you further to figure this out.

That's only for the attenuator setting for using the DS Mk I as a preamp.  There is also a variable volume setting instituted to be used through the touchscreen.  This is in 1db increments. The OP's best option is to go to and join the PSA forum.  There are dozens of users there that have used the DS with both Windows and Mac computers.  While I've owned one for seven years I've only used dedicated streamers that don't have driver issues. Also that remote has been obsolete for years, before I bought mine in 2017.

Again with a computer audio setup if all the experimentation fails, shut everything off including the router.  Then starting with the router boot everything back up again one piece at a time. Also reseat your USB cable and if you have one, try another.

I just noticed the DS mute volume button on the remote (which, of course, has fresh batteries)

Good chance TMR may have muted it after there test to prevent any chance of accident with the new owner.  Don't think starting or powering it back up would unmute it automatically.

It's working!

It worked after I put batteries in the remote and closed Apogee Maestro (could that have munged things up?).

I noticed that when one mutes with the remote, a small box in the upper left corner of the input display turns from green to orange.  It was not on mute.

So, I actually do not know what got it working.

Thanks all!!!

Excellent. Yes, Apogee Maestro looks like a good candidate for creating problems.

It is much better to get away from a general-purpose computer as the source for the DAC. That's another project for another day, but it's well worth the expense and effort.
