Hello, all.
I was initially just going to list these on Criagslist, but since I did buy them for my audio system, perhaps there might be some interest here...
I have a pair of TP-Link MC210CS media converters available, along with compatible 5 meter and 10 meter fiber optical cables. If you're not familiar with them, these devices convert gigabit Ethernet between standard copper cables terminated with RJ45 plugs and fiber optic cable. (Fiber optic cable can support far longer runs than copper, is easier to run through walls than copper Ethernet, and since it's sending light pulses instead of electrical signals, it also completely electrically isolates one end from the other.) The included cables are 9/125 OS1 single mode fiber terminated with SC connectors, and were both used with these specific media converters.
It looks like this setup would cost roughly $75 new, so I'll offer it all for $35 including shipping within the continental US if paid via PayPal friends & family.
The units are pristine and all original packaging, documentation, protection plugs, and power supplies are included. (One of the two power supplies was never even taken out of the box, as I powered the associated converter from a battery.)
Since my audio system is on a dedicated circuit, but the NAS that stores my music is on a standard house circuit, I used this setup to provide optical isolation between those components. When I moved to a streaming device with built-in optical, I then placed these between my cable modem and my router to isolate my networking gear from any surge that might come in through the cable line. (I might still lose my cable modem, but that's better than losing my entire rack of networking gear.) I've since moved to networking gear with built-in optical connections, so now I no longer need them even in that application.
Feel free to reach out with questions.
Thank you!
