Interesting Nugget at TMR

I wasn’t able to find a lot on line about the Insight+ EC preamp but it looks to be about 15 years ago.  Early solid state design?
I can’t say this is tempting me but I always find AVA gear compelling.

I've never owned one, but I've owned both older and newer and they've never disappointed, to say the least. Price seems a bit high though.

Looks to be an Insight upgrade to an older chassis. You can always tell when one of Frank's units was built by the serial number, it's the completion date. Have a good bit of his gear in two systems, never been disappointed. If interested could well be worth a call to AVA, he'll give you his thoughts, and usually answers the phone himself.

That is good to know.  Thanks!

I owned an insight preamp for about a dozen years. It’s a fabulous preamp and certainly no miss no fuss build quality. I only traded mine in for the newer Vision RB solid state a couple years ago.

I own a fair bit of franks gear in four systems and none of it sounds bad. I have a cousin to this piece in my second system the Ultra EC preamp. Sounds fabulous with my salks and the matching Fet valve amp.

I previously bought some Salk SS6M monitors from that store and had a good experience. I just purchased the AVA Digital preamp from there last night as well. I thought they had a decent price on a year old unit and you just dont see them used very often.

So you bought it.  It was definitely a rare find.  I was contemplating but, ridiculous as it sounds,  I’m hung up on wanting black gear.  I hope you enjoy!

Thanks! It should be fantastic by all accounts. It’ll streamline my main setup and it was the last thing keeping me from moving towards the mono 225 amps. Can’t wait to save up some and get a good demo price on those!

TMR is big on overpricing and mis-pricing. they often confuse the cheaper units with a more expensive upgraded version. i havent come across them pricing anything below the baseline.
