DVD-A Player

I believe that DVD-A players will be the next standard soon after the now standard CD players. What DVD-A players are considered among the best?

The Denon 1600 is considered to be pretty good, and it has the added benefit of Faroudja processing. I have a Panasonic CP72 that does well for DVDA, but it is hard to compare because not a lot of people are using the format extensively yet. The improvement over redbook CD is immediately obvious though.
Personally I would like to see a 400 disc megachanger that has the Faroudja chip and both SACD and DVDA. Either that or wait for Blu-Ray. Might as well throw in digital transfer as well.

Save your $ because as soon as they have a way to digitally link the player and the pre-amp all these current players will be on e-bay at 10 cents to the dollar.
Besides what software is available that you REALLY have to have NOW?

Based on my experience, I would say the Muse Electronics Model 10 is among the best.

My friend just bought the Pioneer Elite DV-45A and we hooked it to my system.  It plays DVD-A and SACD, and it sounds great.  It also sounds pretty good with CD.  

He was either going to get that or the Denon 1600 (both were $500 at Tweeter), but the extra SACD playback on the Pioneer won it over.  It also has a button that removes power to the video section when just playing audio, and the progressive scan video quality is very good.

DVD-A is dead. SACD is the new winner (Hybrid discs are coming out left and right).  the Philips 963 has the progressive scan DVD, video switch for SACD playback to turn off the video ckt. 192Khz UPSAMPLING for CD redbook(switchable so you can compare, on or off), it does help!!! It's a winner.

I'm really happy with my Pioneer.  I'm considering getting it modded, but it sounds great as is.  One nice thing about a universal machine is not having to listen to idiots that say one format or the other is dead:  I've got some great stuff for both formats, and now I can buy the music I want without wondering if it will play or not.

SACD is the clear product winner, it has many featurs DVD-A does not do.  NAMELY HYBRID discs.  Philips/Sony don't want to loose the standard Cd player market, now they can sell the DSD advantage to both..very clever.  DVD-A is a dead issue.  Blu-Ray has also obsoleted DVD.
