Looking for info on Linkwitz Orion
« on: 18 Jun 2024, 02:47 am »
I have long lusted over the Orions and saw a gorgeous pair on Ebay and bought them.  But they are just the speakers - none of the wiring, amp or crossover.  I would really like to get one of the original build manuals, but any help is appreciated.  I went to one of the Linkwitz forums and the last entry was 4 years old, so no help there.

Don Naples lists a contact e-mail dnaple@theorionspeakers.com

on the Orion 4 web page: https://www.linkwitzlab.com/orion-rev4.htm

Perhaps he's still able to provide parts or point you in the right direction.

You may want to join that forum if still open and pm some of the heavy users who might be around but just not active. I see some older postings at Audio Asylum about Orions, so same thing there.

In the unlikely event of finding one of the older crossovers, looks like you'll be going digital. I don't see that as a negative, but I'm sure it's blasphemy for the true followers. HAL distributes a darn good 4 way crossover. Great potential for a fun and good sounding project. :thumb:

Awesome - just placed order.  I have found an AT6012.  Now I need the correct 8 channel crossover.  I am doing this more as a collector than as an audiophile.  I want the completed set to be exactly as Linkwitz established it.  Then it becomes part of my amateur museum.
Thanks for your help.
