New to HI-Fi and love the idea of modifying my speakers

I’ve just been getting into HI-Fi within the past 2 months. I have a pair of HPM-100’s that I want to modify using the GR kit. So I joined to try and find info, pics, etc.

But I can’t use the search engine? That’s odd.

Why waste money?
You can buy much better speakers for the price of the kit.

I don't know about you, but I have more than one set of headphones because they each give me a different perspective. Many folks like restoring and improving old gear and like the particular character of the sound from vintage equipment.

The HPM100s are a cool-looking 70s design that can be brought to performance on par with, and in many cases exceed, modern designs in the $1k price range of the upgrade kit. I would really enjoy hearing the result, and I am sure it would be gratifying to get my hands on the parts and hear the fruits of my labor at the end.

Welcome, FFCars. I hope you enjoy some good support here. There are a lot of folks who would love to see a thread in the GR Research circle documenting your crossover upgrade with photos along the way and your thoughts on the results at the end.

I know what he is talking about, but thanks anyway.
Don't agree with you very often, so this will be another agree to disagree situation.
Silk purse and all that, better new and definitely much better used speakers out there.

Data page from the HPM-100, it use a odd four ways croxover>
the 12'' woofer run direct til 3kHz and the 4'' paper cone run only from 3k to 4kHz.
