At least she had a system. My wife had a Sony Boombox.
I tried so hard to convince my Brother-in-Law not to buy a Bose system. He paid $3,500 and is half deaf both literally and physically. I was a Bose store for the first time a couple months ago. I was surprised to find out that they carried Onkyo of all things. My Brother in law was interested in a new all in one unit that had a built in MP3 drive for $1500. I told him it was a waist of money. They weren't pushy with me however. I would have been nice to them for my Brother-in-Laws sake.
One time,(about 10 years ago, I was 21 at the time). I almost got into a major fight with a Bose salesman at the Sears at the Woodbridge Mall In NJ. They had some stupid setup were they put a pair of cubes in these hollow cloth towers to make it look like the sound was coming out of large tower speakers. I heard them and said "That sounds like crap". "Your speakers are overpriced crap". The guy got into my face and we had a few more words.
The truth is that when I knew nothing about audio I drooled over Bose speakers. I was set straight when I started reading Hi-Fi choice and other audio rags.
For us audiophools going into a Bose store is like wearing a dress. It's like having your audio manhood taken away. Show your wife what else there is out there. Women are always receptive to buying new things.
