Hi Glynn, do you use your LTA with a preamp?  I think the LTA Ultralinear would be great for my system in the summer, but I no longer have a preamp  My room is above the garage and gets uncomfortably warm with my Don Sachs Valhalla this time of year.  I assume the LTA does not get very warm, is that correct?  Would be nice to have tubes most of the year and a very good sounding cooler amp for 3 months of the year, or when ever a change is desired.

I have been using it with both a passive volume control (Tortuga) and a 45 tube buffer built by Radu Tarta of simply pleasure amps.  So it will work with a passive volume control just fine.  I am driving a pair of Spatial Audio X5 speakers and the amp works great with them.  It doesn't get too warm and it is VERY quiet.
