New to the circle / looking to upgrade
« on: 4 May 2023, 10:59 pm »
Hello! I've been lurking on this forum ever since the DVA M225 piqued my interest as a potential upgrade from my Monoblock Schiit Aegirs. I am currently using a Lampizator Amber 3 into the Schiit Freya+ which feeds the Aegirs. I have a unique use case where my Aegirs feed into a converter/switch box that I use to either drive my headphones (Susvara) or switch to my speakers (Klipsch RP600M, plan on upgrading these in the future as well). The Schiit Tyr Monoblocks are also on my shortlist of power amps to consider upgrading to. Any insight into these two amps or other amp recommendations would be appreciated. Oh, as a side note the converter box I'm currently using can support up to 225W continuous at or below 8 ohms (maybe not below 2 ohms though, just to be safe lol). This is part of the reason why the M225 and Tyr amps are considerations, that and I'm trying to steer away from tubes since I hate the feeling of wasting tube life when I forget to turn a component off, that and the part of me that wonders if I'm getting the best out of my tube component because I still haven't tested XYZ tube in it yet.

Sorry if that was a lot lol, looking forward to being a part of this community!

Do you would inform us something about how large is the Susvara soundstage with the XLR4 cable?

Do you mean the stock 4 pin XLR cable that comes with the Susvara? It's been a while since I've used the stock cable tbh, but from memory I'd describe it as a few feet outside of my head on a well mastered track. I am currently using the Arctic Cables Gladius with the Susvaras and I'd give it a solid recommendation. I'd put the Gladius a step above the stock cable when it comes to stage, detail, and bass extension.

I also have experience with the Forza Audio Noir Hybrid HPC and thought that it staged about the same as stock and gave a warmer signature to the susvara, it brought down a bit of the bite that Susvara can have. Otherwise I didn't notice a huge difference switching to the Noir Hybrid from stock but it was definitely a lot more comfortable to wear compared to the catheter-like stock cable lol.

Hope that helps!
