Hi All.

I'm a big fan of GR Research's Youtube channel and was planning to upgrade my CDM1NT's with Danny's kit.
However, I don't think the speakers are worth the investment and shipping overseas costed a bundle.

Now I own a pair of Usher Mini Dancer One DMD speakers.
Danny did an upgrade for the Usher BE-718's, so I was wondering if he did one for the dancer's too.

If not, I plan to start upgrading components.
Resistor values are printed and known, as are the capacitor values.
To determine the coil values I counted the number of turns and measured dimensions and gauge.
A nice tool gave me values that after simulating in SPICE made sense from a pure electric perspective
Cross over frequency is at 2300Hz at which point there is a phase difference that seems to be overcome by locating the tweeter a couple of cm further to the back of the cabinet.

So I have two questions:
1. Is there a GR-Research upgrade cross over design for these Dancers (to make them truly dance  :D ) ?
2. Can I upgrade the coil's for identical inductive value (L) but thicker wire (lower resistance (R))?

Danny has helped me with some of my Usher speakers to great effect.

I was able to ship my X616 center channel to Danny and it came back greatly improved.

More recently, last year I sent the crossover boards for my CP-6381's to him as the they're too big and heavy to ship. I received a big box o parts in return that I (miraculously!) crafted into new crossovers. Though Danny wasn't able to measure the speakers, just replicating the crossovers with higher quality parts made for a significant improvement.

Sure, you can replace with better parts including thicker wire for your coils, but the crossover may need to be re-designed. Ask Danny if it's possible to get someone locally to take professional measurements of your speakers before you upgrade crossover parts.

I have not designed an upgrade for that model.

You can do well swapping out the parts on them, but I would highly recommend measuring the coils to get the real values.

Thanks JPM, EarlyB and Danny. I'll find a way to have the coils measured before replacing them.
Maybe I'll start of with the resistors and caps.
However, I'm not pleased with the off-axis responce, so a measuement is also an excellent idea.

I'll follow up and let you guys know how all went
