Tube Questions?
« on: 10 Apr 2005, 04:41 pm »
How long will the tubes last before they need replacing in the fet/valve componants?

When the time comes,do they require biasing or can a customer simply replace them(it)?

Thank you.

Tube life in AVA components is in general long (several years).  There are no power tubes in the Fet Valve components and the small signal tubes are run from regulated 12V heater supplies and regulated B+ supplies at significantly less than their rated voltage and power.  There are no adjustments required when replacing tubes of a like kind.  Changing tubes in a Fet Valve amplifier to a radically different gain 12AT7/ECC81 could require readjusting the amplifier bias settings.  Its a tricky job best left for a professional service man, call us at 651-330-9871 for details.
