Service for my late '70's Yamaha CA-2010 integrated
« on: 11 May 2022, 08:07 pm »
Greetings,
I'm looking to have my very clean CA-2010 serviced.
It works , but intermittently.
I'm currently using it as a pre-amp now but when using the power amp section , there is sometimes some dropping or ducking on one of the channels.  Also , in general, one sides output is just barely lower than the other. (verified by observing the beautiful VU meters).
The volume pot is a little scratchy and sometimes finding the sweet spot without distortion take a second.
I don't know if needs a full rebuild or just a service.   I can imagine fully recapping would be useful as it's about 45 years old...but I have no idea if that's really necessary.

I'd also love to put more modern binding posts on the the back.

I'm in New York (Hudson Valley)
Any suggestions on who could make an assessment and do the work?
thank you
JS

Don't know anything about them but I would call Sound Smith in Peekskill.

He's the guy.  But you have to wait until he gets my turntable back to me.  Expect a 4 month wait.  And make sure your check doesn't bounce. Expensive, but you only pay once.

I recommend Amplifier Experts in CT.  The owner is an expert and his fees are more than reasonable in comparison to many outfits out there that charge you more for questionable repairs.
