New Guy Intro
« on: 25 Mar 2022, 05:50 pm »
Hi everyone,

My interest in hi-fi audio began about four years ago, primarily motivated by a quest to resurect (from the closet) the speakers I purchased 40+ years ago.  A local audio shop specializing in vintage audio equipment set me up with a 70's era reconditioned integrated amplifier and recapped the speaker crossovers.  The digital front end I put together, highlighted by a really good direct-coupled NOS R2R DAC, is obviously not as old as the amp and speakers, but somewhat 'dated' by digital standards.  My goal is to make my system the most musical sounding it can be, given the contraints of my listening area and speaker capability.  To say I'm a late adopter is an understatement.  I also am a 'research junke' who likes to analyze and compare available options.  I also can be a bit 'thorough' (hopefully, this isn't the longest new guy introduction on record).  I admit that "I don't know what I don't know' and am looking forward to benefitting from the knowledge, experience, and recommendations shared on this forum.

Thanks!

  • To whom more was given more will be required.
    • Never go to a psychiatrist, adopt a straycat or dog. On the street they live only two years average.

Welcome to the fold. Stay positive, open minded, and ignore the nay sayers (especially if they are profane). It's a good sharing and learning community.

Welcome!

Where are you from (to have such a local audio shop)?
