  • Strange things are afoot at the Circle K
Of course there would be hot rods and tinker toys...  That was pretty entertaining.  :thumb: Still Hobbs' nx-studio crossovers are a wonderment of overkill.

Well thought out and articulated video. Let's hope people take his message to heart.

I have a few cable risers but only to keep power and signal cables separated. Amazon here I come for some tinker toys. Haven't played with them since the kids were little. They're in their 40s now  :thumb:

Very nice video. I need to check out more of his stuff.

Tinker toys? Tinker toys??

Oh boy - something new and even more ridiculous looking to get and try. Can they be painted? Are optional finishes available?
Can I take them down to the local Auto Paint Shop and have some custom work performed?

At least they’re fairly inexpensive.

I liked that he used the word “Difference” rather than “better” too.

  • Without music, life would be a mistake.
I wish I didn't hear any difference between cables and speaker wire.  Do you have any idea how much money that would have saved me?!?  Haha.  Also it was a very nice video and his views align pretty closely to mine.

  • a riot is the language of the unheard- Dr. King
I remember the day that Danny brought a set of power cords and interconnects to my house, along with a product called a Magic Buss.  It took every bit of 10 seconds to hear extra detail from both.  It wasn't huge, but it was clear.
I find it interesting that the effects vary with the gear they are attached to.  Some amps benefit greatly from better power cords, others not so much.

You know you will not hear any improvement unless they are the 2006 version Tinkertoy and double cryoed!!! :green:

This is exactly what I did. I haven't done any A/B in my own system just yet, but I definitely plan to. Though I dont expect the same difference in Danny's system vs my own. Plus I recently made a new set of cables as I needed some that were a little longer than my original pair.
I got 2 sets of Chinese knockoff tinker toys for $30 and they're 1/2 the size of the originals..

Here's the picture Chris used in the video.

Get them at least 3" above your carpeted floor.

One thing to note about cable risers.  The big differences happen when cables lay on carpet.  Wool is the worst, but carpeting in general is bad.

Wood or tile flors?  Not so much. YMMV - it is audio  :o

I remember when I first tried cable risers, my system was off.  When I lifted the last bit of speaker cable off of the floor, my tweeters went nuts reproducing the static charge as the cable was lifted.  A thing that made me go: Hmmmmmm.I could tell you the changes I heard, but I won't.  People that care and are interested will try this. The scoffers will just taunt.  So be it.

Cryoed Tinker Toys?  Uh, no.

6 like a good project for a 3d printer.  Tinker toys work, but a 3d printed riser would look better. Gr could sell them, god forbid a company make money, or post the 3d files online for free

The dude does seem to have a gift for being level headed.
