Help! How to remove/refit battery in BDP1
« on: 12 Feb 2022, 05:22 pm »
I need to replace the motherboard battery in my BDP1.  Seems to be in the cream plastic housing quite firmly with slight  lip to keep it in place.  I don’t want to apply too much force.  How have others got it out and replaced?

Thanks

I recently had to do this. I just applied increasing upward pressure until the battery came out. Then I put the new battery in, making sure the plus side was facing up, and pressed down until I was sure it was seated properly. Hope this helps.

Done it a couple of times. Be careful with respect (no static) to grounding inside the component.  Apply light pressure to the battery upward from one edge.  It should pop loose.

Thanks, I did just try gentle upward pressure but I couldn’t get it to move and was afraid of more force pulling the holder off the board.

In the end , I pushed out  one rear-facing corner of the plastic holder with a small screwdriver, just enough to then pull part of the battery over the retaining lip,and then pushed the battery gently up  from below with the screwdriver.

All refitted fine, however I still got “09” error on initial boot, but disconnected and reconnected power and usb cable and now all seems fine.

Glad you got it going.  I've also had the 09 error code, and Chris Rice walked me through a connect-disconnect-reconnect procedure on the serial cables.  Apparently they may get corroded or loose over time.
