Any audio nuts on the coast of NC or SC?
I've moved to N Myrtle Beach, SC and wasn't sure if there were any people into hifi here. My family is looking for a new house.. We're in a condo for now, hoping to find a final 'home' somewhere that has a garage, yard, shed, and of course, some kind of mini oasis to enjoy some tunes. But nothing has really 'moved' us yet.
So I'm building a future-system to feed my obsession. Of course!
Right now my amp is pretty well decided and is being custom made. I'll update more later on that... but it's solid state, about 100wpc, high current, and can handle 3-8 ohm range well.
Source will be a new streamer; probably an Eversolo DMP6.
DAC will be my existing Light Harmonics Vi, but could be replaced depending on synergy.
Speakers... well, that's an interesting one. I still have the Piega C8 LTD's. And if I have room, they'll be great. But I have the itch for something new. I'm enamored with Elac's Vela series at the moment. I really want something small/unobtrusive... and in white, or a very light color. I'm kind of interested in the Revel F206 and/or M106 w/ sub. I'd prefer a small floor-stander in the 2-4,k range. I've owned an F208 but sold it in favor of the Piega. But the F206 sounded better to me... and it'll be fed by a different amp in a different room...
There are so many variables that it'd be tough to find the 'right' speaker at this point... so hoping there is a chance I can get together with others to listen to some tunes and maybe compare some gear. Is there anyone here that might want to host something? My condo has an amenity center we can use to test gear if you want to do something big.. but otherwise, my condo isn't ideal.
