AMT tweeter plastic mesh covering
« on: 23 Aug 2021, 12:38 pm »
I have the X5s and noticed that the AMT tweeters have a very thin plastic mesh covering right in front of the metal AMT tweeter folds.  I assume this is normal and is just there for protection but was just wondering if all the AMT tweeters come with this plastic covering.

Mine have that also. Looks like protection.

I've used these tweeters in several pairs of speakers, they all had the protective mesh.

Do a test...Try pushing your finger into the mesh and see if the tweeter still works afterwards?  J/K

Jeez...bad advice! Now my tweeter isn't working. I will try to claim it as a warranty issue  :green:  oh wait, I haven't ordered my x5 yet. Never mind

Thank you everyone for the responses, I figured the mesh was there for some sort of protection and is supposed to be left in place as part of the design of the tweeter.
