Bryston BP17 cubed vs BP17 none cubed
« on: 9 Aug 2021, 03:34 pm »
Hi All
I am new to this forum and am awaiting a Bryston BP17 cubed.
My dealer in the UK (Fanthorpe HiFi) have kindly lent me a demo BP17 (none cubed) as Lockdown has caused long delays and have been waiting almost 3 months for it to arrive.
It sound great in my system, so what improvements can I expect from the cubed version.
Thanks in advance

I think it was said that the Cubed had a more 3D like presentation in that instruments seemed to hang in space.

I was at the Dealer demo-ing the Model T Active speakers listening to the song Harmonica from the movie Once Upon a Time in the West. I think the amps were Cubed don't recall what the pre was. Anyway the haunting sound of the Harmonica just seemed to hang there in space, very eerie sound. The room of coarse was a factor as I play this song at home but not quite the same imaging effect. :smoke:

Balanced inputs and the Salomie circuit will help lower your noise floor further.

That helps with soundstage, more detail, inkier blacks.

When I went from BP17 to BP173 the difference was noticeable immediately.

Thanks for the reply.
The 17 cubed arrived last week and as you said - more detail with a cleaner sound.
I have subsequently purchased the 2.5 B cubed power amp which has given me further improvement to my system- very happy with the combination 👍🏾
