Hello all, since I am new here I might as well make this my 1 very long post but I will try and make it quick. A lil background and what mess I'm in now  :D

I started with electronics in my teen years and ultimately began working in the field about 20+ years ago. Started out and still work as a  commercial audio video tech which makes me a quality, above average hack. For the most part, hotel, convention centers and in house corporate AV. I have done some permanent install work and even car audio. Home Audio has always been a hobby but high end, high performance or audiophile (whichever you prefer) didn't get to me till about '05 or so.
I picked up a freelance gig helping build out a small studio in Manhattan. 2 days in I was asked to assist the sound engineer in the listening room, I had more experience with home gear than the rest of the crew so I couldn't say no. The engineer was not part of our crew but actually hired by the owner for the build out of this room. 10 minutes in the room and I regretted it. The guy was an arrogant, egotistical hard on, but I was getting paid $350 a day cash money so  everytime my mouth opened to curse his ass out,  I kept saying cash money. Glad I did stick it out for the 3 days, it changed everything I knew about home audio. 2 speakers, 2 monoblock amps, a few other pieces of equipment, a Mac and a ton of cables. How in the hell does this sound better than surround sound? I stared at the speakers and could swear they were not playing any sound but yet I knew they were. I finally opened my mouth and told the jerk he was exactly that and then complimented him on his skills. He gave me some pointers and now I can say, I know enough to be dangerous and get in serious trouble but I'm still no where close to the level of some of the industry pro's. I still listen and take notes from many industry people, making a system disappear in a room is an art and I still struggle sometimes.

Sorry for the long post but a proper introduction should be a 1st.
At the moment I have been selling everything off, my home is going under construction and I don't want to put things in storage. The only thing I plan on keeping is my Tekton Cinema Subs (passive version), I love those damn things.

Thank you for the welcome, I've been here plenty just reading.
I tell you I'm dangerous and I don't mean that in a good way. My wife reminded me a few days ago that I have to pay the credit card, I ended up purchasing a power cable.

Easy way to get on her good side - just tell her she can do a kitchen remodel

She is actually ok with my hobby, she knows I prefer to be home tinkering so it makes her happy. One night after dinner I sat her down in the sweet spot and let the music play. Started explaining and teaching her a little bit. She enjoyed it and would boot me from my seat every few days. Then I sold the amps for profit and ever since she has let me be. Funny thing is when I installed the replacement amp, she immediately reacted negatively and said it sounds horrible. Then I explained the whole "there here" vs "you're there" sound, close your eyes and it sounds like you're 4 rows back at a venue. She sat back, closed her eyes and the smile came across her face, she got it. She likes to sit down for a listen whenever I get something new in.
