Hi I’m Dave,

Built some fun projects, mostly diy speakers before potable Bluetooth speakers were any good.
That was 7 years ago.

Recently got a arylic a50 and klipsch rp-400 in my garage work bench setup.
Have become addicted to the sound stage 3d feel
Want to take that to the living room.

Just ordered xls “all the way” and birch flat pack

Looking at Yamaha A-s501sl, Shiit vidar, or Cambridge audio axr85.
Just wondering if anyone has any fun amp diy that will go well with xls?
No amp building experience, but I can solder and know not to lick the flux.

Thanks!

Are you looking for A) a 'kit'; or B)full-on, from-scratch DIY?

If 'B', you need either experience or brass ba11s IMO.

If 'A', this seems like a good 'starter' kit: https://www.akitika.com/GT102.html

Stereopolice reviews the akitika kit and grades it below the Yamaha a-s501,  and I would still need a preamp.
I like the idea of using effort to make something better and cheaper than I can just buy. I just don’t think the akitika is what I’m looking for

Understood. I'm a little confused b/c you said you were looking for something DIY and the Yamaha isn't.
Ironically, going DIY probably won't save you much if any money. It seems to be more for the challenge and sense of accomplishment.

If separates are out, DIY probably is too. FWIW Stereophile gave the Akitika a positive review. I'e never heard of stereopolice.
