Warranty for digital equipment
« on: 19 Jun 2021, 06:15 pm »
James, I read some time ago that digital equipment might get a prolongued warranty of 20 years. Now I wonder if that is still in discussion. For a PI I would understand a certain hestitation. It depends on external hardware and is very software dependent. A BDA3 should be more "easy" to handle for an expert company like Bryston I guess.

Would be nice to get an outlook on this topic.

Thanks,

Holger

As it stands now, all Bryston digital gear has a 5 years warranty and its analog gear has a twenty years warranty. I doubt it will change.

Hi!

As far as I know, warranty on digital equipment is 5 years but 3 years on CD drives. With digital, technology moves forward more rapidly so after a while it becomes challenging for the manufacturer to obtain parts. Now, Bryston is a boutique company so there is only so much they can do in the parts department. They can stock up on some parts but that is expensive and not very practical. That being said, they are very good at carrying out repairs and I think they don't charge too much for them.

Five year warranty on consumer digital equipment is about as good as it gets.
