Order of operations

Am I doing this A about face?
Im searching for the right phono stage amp to pair with my Audio Research Ref3 Line Amp.
Im reading about gain and issues to do with cartridge choice, volume, and mass. Im out of my depth here.

That has got me thinking. Maybe Im approaching this wrong. Perhaps I need to match my t/table and tone arm with a cartridge a
- optimise this first, and then figure out what phono-stage is going to provide the best interface between cartridge and line amp.

I have a mint Mk1 Oracle Delphi with a Magnepan Uni Trac Arm.
Im thinking I should go MC ?
If so, What would be the best match?
Following on from that, what Phono stage is going to provide the best interface between tone arm and my ARC Ref 3 Preamp/ Parasound JC-1 Mono’s/Thiel CS3.6 Speakers.
