Not concerned so much with power conditioners... just surge problems.
Most of the current (pun intended) offerings in the surge products line are
MOVs. The last one I had, failed to go to open and after an additional surge, cooked a piece of gear since the MOV was sacrificed with the first
surge.
UL 1449 ratings are broad enough to cover most everything in the market place. The top rating 1-1-A (UL 1449) has a few examples (Zero Surge,
Surge X and ADCO[which is made by Zero]).
Has anyone run some tests with the 1-1-A UL 1449 rated gear to make a best pick evaluation. My guess would be 15/20 amp, 2 outlet, would be more than be enough to cover surge problems for the typical 150/200 watt
system.
I contacted PS Audio and discovered their Ultimate Outlet High Current is NOT rated and has a MOV circuit. (I own one, it does a fine job of of conditioning but I am still concerned about power surges...)
Thanks in advance for your input,
pc
