Used HT2-TLs for Sale
« on: 15 Mar 2021, 06:48 pm »
Hello All,

I have a pair of HT2-TLs that I need to sell. These are over 10 years old and were purchased as demos from Jim directly. They are absolutely beautiful and well-maintained. https://salksound.co - Yes, they are the same Pau Ferro Rosewood speakers shown in the HT2-TL gallery. https://salksound.com/gallery/Veracity%20HT2-TL/HT2-TL-pauferrorosewood02.jpg

They were boxed in the original boxes with the same Styrofoam material Jim originally shipped in. The boxes are undamaged and look fine, the Styrofoam took some damage on the original shipment from Jim - thanks UPS or FedEx - but there doesn't appear to be any issue with my movers shipment. The speakers arrived in perfect from Jim and have served me wonderfully. My moving company was much nicer to them but I haven't unboxed them to confirm they are still working perfectly. I prefer not to unbox them because I just plan to ship them to Jim or a purchaser but will do so if you really want pictures in advance.

That said, if you purchase them directly from me and they don't work out of the box, as opposed to a wife issue or size issue, I will pay return shipping with no questions asked. They will ship in the two speaker boxes plus a third box containing the plinths, spiked feet, and hardware. I'll send any of the written Salksound stuff I can find. I may have the original Salk CD but I suspect it is in a unopened box, with about 4000 other CDs in the garage. Yes, we just got into our new place.

The other option is that I am willing to return them to Jim, let him inspect them and if something needs to be done, do it, and then have him post them on the Salksound website. However, if we go this route, I'll need to ask more for them to pay for Jim's inspection, the work - if any, and the fact we have to pay to ship them twice.

We recently moved from a 3800 square foot home to a 1500 square foot townhome and I have no dedicated listening room anymore. These speakers are too large for the space and, more importantly, too large for me at 66 years old to be constantly moving when I want to listen to music because I don't have the floor space or room to simply leave them set-up in the office/bedroom/listening roof of approximately 12x13 feet.

I plan on look at the SongTowers or SongTower IIs so any thoughts on those speakers in this type of space would also be appreciated.

Thanks, Dave

Did I miss either of these?  Price?  Location (would not need to be shipped if someone is local)?

Salks usually resell pretty easily and should be posted on the for sale speaker page....also....

The link you  provided is for the Song Towers?  Are the speakers for sale actually the Veracity HT2TLs?

And, some info that buyers will want to know....When was the last time they were played.  How long have they been boxed?  Except for the move, have they been indoor the whole time in controlled temp and humidity?

I will also post these on the Speaker for Sale page.

I corrected the link to show my speakers, which are Veracity HT2-TLs, if you go the gallery for HT2-TLs you will see them there as well.

They were last played in November. They have been boxed from the end of November until last week. Except for the move, they have been indoors in my listening room in a controlled temp and humidity controlled as well. To the best of my knowledge, as stated by our movers they were unloaded into a controlled temperature storage while we waited for our new home to be completed.

As for price, it really depends on how these are sold and shipping costs. I was advised by Ron that I may be high on the original pricing so I'm lowering it to $2800 if these are shipped to Jim and if any repairs are necessary, which I doubt, I would pay Jim for those and then reshipped to the buyer and closer to $2500 if you purchase them directly from me and can pick them up or we can arrange a decent price on shipping.

Whoa, you are absolutely correct. I just looked at the link again. Wrong woofer but the right ribbon tweeter. Mine has the same Pau Ferro Rosewood look but the larger woofers with the copper center. Sorry about that.

I think you are going to have to explain the tweeter which appears to be different in your linked photo from the RAAL tweeter shown on the current Salk website.

My speakers have the LCY-110 ribbon tweeter, used in the original HT2-TLs, which was later replaced with the RAAL ribbon tweeter.

I'd leave it to Jim or someone more knowledgeable to discuss the differences. I've never heard the speakers with the RAAL ribbon tweeter so I really can't say how it sounds different. My understanding from those who have it that they are fairly similar. But, I leave it to others who have heard both versions to discuss it further.

Just a quick note on the tweeter change...

At the time the Veracity HT2-TL's were developed, the LCY 110 was the best performing ribbon tweeter available.  When RAAL came on the scene, we immediately realized that this was a ribbon tweeter we wanted to work with.  All ribbon-based models developed after that used RAAL tweeters.

After that, we decided to rework all existing designs with ribbon tweeters to incorporate RAAL tweeters.  It was not because the LCY 110 was deficient in any way.  It was to simplify our inventory requirements so that we only had to stock a single ribbon tweeter.  The LCY 110 is a very capable ribbon tweeter and I doubt you would hear a discernable difference in sound quality.  If not for RAAL, we'd likely still be using it.
