Tortuga Audio LDR-1 passive preamp $300 SOLD!!!!!

SOLD!!!!

I purchased this in 2014 and it has been one of my favorite audio purchases. I contacted Morten Sissener from Tortuga regarding a grounding question with this model. He stated the following:

"Back then we probably sold units where the audio signal ground was NOT tied back to power/chassis ground. In some cases that caused various degrees of buzz/hum with certain amps and not others. We eventually tied these together as the default to avoid such instances. This can be permanently remedied by making this connection internally. Some designers use a ground lift switch so you can go whichever way sounds best but we did not go with a switch."

The amp I had it paired with for several years (European) had a hum and I remedied it by an external ground (My previous post yesterday I mentioned this). The three amps I just tested with it today after contacting Morten have no hum or need for a ground (Chinese amps). This is an incredibly transparent amp and comes with a remote for volume control which includes left and right channel balance.

So with this model:

1. Most amps will not have a hum
2. The unit works great!

If there is a hum there are three fixes:

1. An external ground from one RCA output to the case (this is what I did in the past /wire and electrical tape)
2. You can Internally ground it (solder and small wire)
3. Buy an external ground lift switch

This unit is incredibly transparent. I had the best results when I combined it with the Exposure 3010 s2 series and it ran away from the Hegel 300 I tested it agianst. I will eventually revisit Exposure but with LDR3000T.V25 at some point.

I will post more pictures later. The asking price is $310 with $10 for shipping, but make an offer.
