I now understand the reference to "AC" from another audio forum where they were discussing GR Research.
At this point I'm trying to setup a bi or tri amped system.  Have my 'sub', a 24 inch Hartley woofer. Next step is what to use for over 150Hz.

Hey Guido57,
welcome to the Audio Circle and know that you won't be the only "Old Fart" who is still a serious, active listener. As to your Hartley 24" - well the classic high-end combo from way back was the "HQD" system, as you probably remember, i.e. a Hartley 24" sub, Quad57 speakers for the mids and Decca supper tweeters. I don't know if the Deccas are still available, there are probably better choices now anyway, and (stacked preferably) Quad 57s are not too terribly expensive to buy used. I think there are several excellent electronic crossovers now that sound much better than what was available in the early 70's. Do you have the amplifiers up to the challenge? Please share details and good luck putting it all together!
