Dead T3 FET Valve Preamp
« on: 24 Oct 2020, 04:34 pm »
I've got a dead preamp. I think the problem is one of the caps on the PS(?) board. It's really hard to see, but the black cap in lower right on the PS board (there are 3 similar caps) looks like the black plastic wafer/disk on the top of the cap has popped up.

Before the preamp went dead there would be an audible hum (from the speakers) at turn on that would slowly dissipate and go away. Now there is no output and the tubes (4xECC83S) do not light up. Only the light on the power switch comes on.

Does this sound accurate?

In any case I'm going to have to send it to Frank for repair.

Sounds like you are right about the cap.  Looks like a quick fix if nothing else was damaged.
