Mystery Road is a modern western set in Western Australia. Aaron Pedersen plays stoic detective Jay Swan investigating the discovery of a headless corpse in the 6 part Season 2 of the acclaimed series. Hot and dusty with menacing characters that make Deadwood look like pre-school. Jay stares them all down with barely a word.

Aaron Pedersen is an Aboriginal Australian, which adds to the drama because as detective Jay Swan he has to navigate two worlds while the mystery twists and turns, clues are elusive and alligators eat suspects.

Mystery RoadSeason 2 is now available on Acorn TV

I suggest starting with Season 1, also available on Acorn.

But to fully understand Jay Swan start with the first Mystery Road film from 2013. Season 1 takes place between the events of the films Mystery Road and Goldstone.

NY Times has an Aaron Petersen profile:
"Pedersen’s physical density and natural poise bring to mind the screen presence of a Robert Mitchum or late-period Gary Cooper — his “Mystery Road” character looks strong as an ox and immovable as chiseled granite."

Review: A Classic Western Sheriff on the Other Side of the World - In “Mystery Road,” Aaron Pedersen plays a lawman with Indigenous roots and John Wayne style.

I've watched both films, and Season 1 of Mystery Road.  All are excellent!        :thumb:
