New Sonic Impact Amp Rumor . . .
« on: 9 Feb 2005, 08:04 pm »
Somewhere else I read that SI was coming out with an upgraded version of the 5066 that would have real  binding post, etc.  Well, I wrote SI about this "new" amp and got a resounding NO.  They said the have no plans for an "upgraded" Tripath amp.

Boy, are they missing a huge market with that attitude!

(PS.  I'm hoping I'm wrong . . .   )

It has no outputs at all as far as I can tell.  It is hardwired to speakers so the whole kit can be folded up and moved around.  It can now be powered by a USB cable.

I emailed SI and they indicated a new upgraded version would be released in late spring or early summer. A 50 watt version is also in the works.

I got the same reply about a week later from a different SI person.
