Up for sale is a Verus motor and motor controller, from Teres Audio. The Verus system uses a high precision motor to drive a turntable platter, using an o-ring mounted on a large pulley. The motor controller is used to provide the precise voltage to spin the motor – and the platter – at the proper speed. With proper set-up and attention to detail, this drive system can take your turntable to another level.

This a variation of direct drive technology (Teres calls it Direct Coupling, VPI and others describe it as a rim drive). The system can be configured for use with a wide range of platters, by adjusting the dip switches on the PCB. Instructions on how to adjust the controller for your system can be found on the Teres Audio website. Templates for printing a strobe pattern for use with a standard incandescent light bulb are readily available on the internet.

Included is the motor controller, the motor pod, the original pulley and rectangular o-ring, and some additional o-rings (Buna-N, 70A durometer). Also included is a pulley made of polyethylene (slightly larger size), with an o-ring made from medical grade silicone (50A durometer).

I used this system with some success on custom made turntable with an Acoustic Solid platter. I have since upgraded to a VPI TNT Mk IV motor, and a Walker Audio controller.

$600
