Introduction: GR-Research Open Baffle Subs
« on: 30 Jun 2020, 03:56 am »
Hello Everyone,

Just got my first GR-Research kit. I thought it was time to kick my DIY speaker building up a notch with a stereo set of dual open baffle subs and a pair of A370XLR3 amps. I hope to get started on the H frames this week!

My current DIY setup is a pair of transmission lines with Audience A3S2-16 drivers powered by a Nakamichi Pa-5 Stasis amp. I use a Chord Mojo as the DAC/Preamp fed via USB from my MacMini or via coax from my Alesis Masterlink. Though I have to say my favorite setup is driving my Audience TL's directly with my Mojo while listening in the nearfield. The Mojo can put out almost 1 amp in 8 ohms. I'd like to get the Chord Hugo TT2 at some point which can deliver 18 watts into 8 ohms from the balanced outputs.

I've started my venture into open baffle so I figured I begin bottom up with the GR H frames. Hopefully, the Super-Mini's will be available soon and I can get a pair of those to complete the set!

Welcome!  OB subs will definitely elevate the system you already have in place :)
