Old newb, and glad to find this outfit
« on: 21 Jun 2020, 11:16 pm »
I found this forum after "tripping over" GRR's Tech Talks a few weeks ago.  My audio background is deep in years, but interrupted by life.  My beginning in high-end audio was in 1970 when I got a job in Top40 radio to support my college habit.  At that same time one of my five brothers-in-law was/is and electronics genius and he taught/cursed me how to listen.  It was truly the perfect storm of my search for perfection.  My audio journey ran for some 25 years and then career + kids interrupted it.  I am now completely starting over and considering a new, small high quality bookshelf system for my living room.  Of course the XLS Encores have my utmost interest.  I am a recovering Klipschiac, and still like their high-end stuff, but Danny Richie has largely neutralized that problem.  Thank you very much, DR!

  • To whom more was given more will be required.
    • Never go to a psychiatrist, adopt a straycat or dog. On the street they live only two years average.

Welcome  :thumb:
Unfortunately hi sensitivity speakers are rare today, what made Klipsch very useful among small tube amps custumers.

Welcome!  I have a friend who uses a Mastersound SET amp and goes for those high sensitivity speakers.  I think he will be selling his Beauhorms (http://www.enjoythemusic.com/magazine/equipment/1000/beauhorn.htm) soon.
