Hi Steve,

Good table for the money, but you do know the tt shown at the top of the page is "not" the 170.  it is from the 800 series.

The 158 is the model I would be interested in since I don't own any 78's.

I'd, look towards a different table. This one has a hollow plastic plinth similar to the Pioneer's (or what ever brand they are) you see currently at Best Buy. I'd look for something more substantial. The table Rosconey just bought should be just fine as an entry into the vinyl realm.

FWIW, I vaguely remember a Michael Fremer review in Stereophile dealing with one of the new Thorens that came as close to a scathing review as one finds in that mag: the gist was that this WASN'T your daddy's Thorens (and that's a bad thing in this case).

i just bought a pro-ject debutIII-
if you want the dealers info let me know-cheapest $ on the net i could find.
he shipped mine out same day and sent a tracking number also.
255$ delivered not sure if he has anymore in stock but said if i wanted a special color it would only take a few days for him to get one.
he also sells music hall tables at a good price.
