RSS300 Replacement Tweeters and Woofers
«

All,
I am having issues with my RSS300 and I am 99% sure the tweeters and possibly woofers on one are going out. Anyone have any suggestions on replacements? I doubt I can find the exact parts any more.
Thanks,
Robert

Seems strange they'd both go at the same time....
Have you tried swapping the speaker cables from one speaker to the other ? Make sure it is actually the speaker and not the electronics....
If the issue stays with the speaker ( doesn't folow cables) I'd start by checking the binding post -> crossover connections.

Well I’m not sure which honestly. I get this staticky noise out of the one. I did just switch cables. Same issue out of the culprit.
Thanks,

Were you able to track this down ?
I'd start checking all the solder conections starting at the binding posts and then throughout the network

Agreed. Staticky noise is usually a connection if it’s not up stream in the volume control etc. tweeters usually either work or don’t. Failure there is usually a burnt coil from over driving.
An over heated voice coil in a woofer can warp and rub in the gap but you should hear it only coming from the woofer if it’s rubbing. Usually pushing on the cone (when system is powered down) will reveal voice coil alignment issues pretty quick. It should move freely with no friction or noise whatsoever.

Apologies for not responding to this sooner. I spent the better part of 2 weeks figuring this out... but I did figure it out.
A more accurate description of the noise that happened is almost an AM radio or old CRT TV on a bad channel type of noise. I first tried switching speakers around to see if it was in fact the speakers. Turns out it was not as many of you theorized. The noise happened no matter what speaker I put there.
I then began swapping out cables. I swapped the RCA cables for the pre-outs from the receiver to the Emotiva amp and the noise actually got a little worse but it was isolated to only the right side front and right side back. It also seemed to only occur when I tried to listen to something via XBox One or 4K Player. Normal Cable listening did not have the issue.
I then borrowed a good receiver and magically the problem went away. Turns out the Onkyo was going out on the right bank. I went and bought a new Marantz receiver and everything is wonderful again!
Thanks everyone for your help. I hope the above helps someone down the line with the same problem.
