Well, here is something to try for those of you who LACK equipment isolation platforms.  Since I have some leftover strips of No Rex sitting around from my OB-H build I was wondering if it would work for preventing vibrations from reaching T.T, Preamps, Amps, etc.  So I made up some platforms out of MDF with No Rez facing the surfaces of whatever the component sits on.  See pictures.  Not pretty, but a proof of concept.  I hear an improvement notably with my Tube-based Phone Pre and

Turntable.  But just for fun did the same for my pre and amp.  As a side note, don't try it with anything really heavy as this will just pancake the No-Rez. 

Just put on an LP of Smetna; The Moldau, Berlin Philharmonic, Von Karajan Angel/EMI 1977. I am hearing improvement in soundstage depth and cleanliness of dynamic passages. 

I would like to hear from anyone else willing to give this inexpensive approach a shot to see what their outcome is.  Part of the fun of this hobby is experimenting.

Hey man whatever works. Experimenting is what brings the joy in this hobby. You have got to dial in your system in your room. Glad it's working for you! I would think the foam will compress over time. Check the TT for level regularly.

Vibrations are a problem for turntables, loudspeakers and vacuum tubes, but you can't play your system loud enough to have any impact on the other components.

On the other hand, for components that have rotating parts like CD/DVD players, hard-drives and fans, vibration isolation can reduce their mechanical sounds radiated into the air.

Your right, this won't work for anything that weighs more than a few pounds.  TT sounded great for a few days until foam toward the motor side of TT compressed and I had the leaning tower of TT on my hands    So off it came and I am now trying a commercial rubber/cork/rubber sandwich arrangement.  It seems to work as well as the foam without the downside.

Glad I could help! That will be much better in the long run. Are they the Mapleshade Iso-Blocks? That's what I use along with their maple platforms and brass Heavy Feet (the complete VCS vibration control system) Best up grade I have made to my TT.
