New participant here

Greetings from Kansas!  I'm a new participant here and just getting started with finding my way around.  I am an amateur jazz musician and professional music educator.  Just seeking good, realistic sound from my home system.  Really interested in the X-series kits, due to my budget on teacher pay.

Welcome,
I would definitely suggest the x series kits on a budget.  I had the X-Statik years ago before my house was burglarized, I have since purchased "better" much more expensive speakers and miss the sound of the X-Statik, wish I had just repurchased them.

The X series are great performers for the money.

A pair of stock non Encore X-LS were my first pair of decent speakers. Had them paired with a X-Sub, a Marantz 2230 and a SACDmods Sony SCD-555ES and they sounded great.

Welcome    !

Yeah,    the  X Series offers great  bang for buck and there   are some upgrades you  can do  at any point to  take them  further.

Are you  guys doing  your  own  jazz ,  covers  ?  Big fan of some of the old trio's/quartet's ..... :thumb:

As a musician, what you really want in a speaker is good detail, good coherence and good tone.  Danny's designs have all that, in spades.

The X series speakers aren't just a good bang for the buck, especially if you use the tube connectors, No-Rez, and upgraded crossover parts. In this case they truly rival cost-no-object speakers. I was in the room when a upgraded pair of X-LS Encores with tube connectors and No-Rez was A/B'd with pair of bookshelf speakers that retailed for $7,500. The Encores outclassed the other bookshelfs and by more than just a little bit. That's not just my opinion. The room was packed and that was the consensus of others in the room.

Thanks for the warm welcome!!  I have only seen positive comments about the x-series speakers.   I had just started exploring open baffle and full range speakers systems.  A summer build will fit my schedule best, so I have sufficient time to shop, research, and select the best option.

Most of my jazz playing is in jazz ensemble groups, usually on tenor sax although I claim alto as my main instrument.  My personal listening interests are saxophone players in a post-bop vein,  1950-1960's groups (Art Blakey, Dexter Gordon, Hank Mobley, etc.) and jazz ensembles such as Buddy Rich, Thad Jones/Mel Lewis, etc.

Love it   :thumb:
If you can swing it,   go for one of the kits  using the NQ   or Neo10 ( if available)  midrange drivers , both are amazing with  horns   !
