Stan's new preamp is on the market at $1500. Reviews are outstanding. Stan told me that he is looking at a remote, and an HT bypass. I havn't auditioned this unit yet (I will soon), but those who have claim it is phenomenol.

Back when I was looking about 3 years ago I decided on the Joule Electra LA-100 Mk3.  It has a remote and is an all tube design, down to the power supply.  Its got resolution, musicality and dynamics, though I believe that it trades the last bit of resolution for musicality.  List price is something close to $4k but you can get it used for less.

No, no, no…
The procedure is simple.

You buy a potential replacement component, you audition it against your current component and you choose between the two and sell the one you didn’t like as much. Repeat as necessary.

If you find that you keep choosing your current component then you can be assured you are happy. The only biasness is that your current component has the home field advantage of familiarity. If you choose the new(er) component then you sell your current component. You can continue to do this till you have gotten a chance to hear a variety of components.

This is the way of the Audiophile; you can’t possibly know what something sounds like till you hear it for yourself.

actually, this is exactly how i ended up w/my present preamp.  but, i am done, now.  at least w/preamps!    i really don't think i can do any better.  perhaps different, but not outright better in all areas.  and, i am yust happy enuff w/it as it is.

ymmv,

If you have any links to reviews or a website, they would be appreciated...
Is he building this in USA or overseas?

warner, i *strongly* urge you to buy this, & then sell either it or your present preamp, after a comparison...

I guess there would be no use in trying Stan's latest preamp...since he has had my power amps for over 9 years!
