I'm a long time audio hobbyist considering a DIY speaker project for 2020.  I have a mix of vintage and new gear, and returned to vinyl a couple of years ago after a long break.  Looking forward to learning and contributing in the circle.

  • To whom more was given more will be required.
    • Never go to a psychiatrist, adopt a straycat or dog. On the street they live only two years average.

Welcome Joe :thumb:
I would spend your money on the Super15CF($750/pair) in the big 13.6ft³ Bass Reflex box, a easy to made direct from the amp, no xover design.

I'd love to hear those - seriously.
The 13+ cu ft enclosures would be a problem in my room though.

My system is in the living room, so WAF is a consideration.
The next project will likely be something small to mid sized (7" woofer max - possibly x 2), stand mounted.
Currently I have 2.5 way, floor standers with 6.5"x 2 + 1" Usher drivers - carbon/paper woofer, silk dome tweeter.
I'm actually quite happy with the sound, but it's a 15 year old build and I was thinking of trying out either ribbons or Be tweeters this time.

Most of my speaker systems over the last 30 years have been biamped using separate sub(s).
I expect to stay in that configuration this time around, too.

Thanks for your reply.

Welcome to the AC!

If you're feeling really ambitious about a DIY speaker project, my 'Audi' speaker is pretty amazing:

Note to self: be careful throwing the DIY term around.
There are real 'scratch builders' out there and building a few speaker kits pales in comparison, lol.

Thanks everyone, nice to be here.
