SOLD: Great Northern Sound PASI
« on: 26 Nov 2019, 04:34 pm »

SOLD!

I have a great Northern Sound PASI up for sale that is in very good condition.

Back in the day these were $750.00, I am asking for $250.00 and that includes shipping in the 48 US.

Payment via PayPal, no added fee.

The below description is a quote, I am not certain of the use as a converter, I never used it that way.

" The Passive Audio Signal Isolator (PASI) is a stand alone device that evolved as a direct result of the serious modifications that Great Northern Sound performs on high performance digital gear. It offers a large portion of the benefits of their modification package in a transferable outboard model.

The PASI is the solution to the inherent grit, grain, and glare that plagues CD, SACD, and DVD audio playback. These unavoidable artifacts are a result of Digital Signal Processing of which conventional digital and analog filters are unable to remove or reduce sufficiently. This is not a "band-aid" for poor design, it is designed to remove the artifacts that ALL digital playback systems generate.

The PASI removes these unwanted processing artifacts, allowing the music to pass through in a much more natural and involving way. Better midrange bloom, more body to the music, improved dynamics, and richer tone are all evident upon first listening with the PASI inserted in the system. A rare occurance when something more in the signal path is a substantial improvement.

At the heart of this device is a pair of custom built 1:1 isolation transformers that are fully potted and damped. These unique signal path transformers outperform off-the-shelf line level isolation transformers by a wide margin. They are designed specifically to block DSP noise and provide total electrical isolation between digital source and rest of the chain.

The PASI features a pair of RCA inputs and outputs as well as a pair of XLR inputs and outputs for your convenience. Not only is the unit effective at noise/grain reduction but it's fully balanced design gives you the added benefit of a sonically neutral unbalanced to balanced converter (and vice versa). The connectors are all on the rear of the unit to allow for easy connection in a wide variety of system situations.

The PASI is designed to be placed in the chain at the output of the CD player or DAC, before the pre-amp (or amp, if running direct). The output impedance of the device reflects the source impedance. If you have a low impedance source, you will not loose the benefit by going through the PASI.

The unit is 14'' wide, 4 1/2" high, and 2 1/4" deep. It weighs 9 lbs. The chassis is made from a solid aluminum block that is anodized black. "
