This is a very special unit. If you don't care about Blu-Ray or hdmi, this is an awesome player that punches WAY ABOVE its asking price. Cosmetic condition is a solid 9. I really can't find anything wrong. Functional condition is an 11! - no issues.
The upgrade is modeled after the Underwood hifi mod but goes beyond it in that ALL the electrolytic caps were replaced with a mix of Pansonic FC, Sanyo OsCon and Black Gate caps. All voltage ratings were increased to at least 1.5x operating voltage if not 2X - limited by size constraints and per military derating standards. In other words these caps will last longer than you will! FRED diodes used in the power supply. Damping used on the cover and throughout the pc boards and drive assembly. Upgraded Analog Devices AD8034 opamps were substituted and the digital IC's were shielded and grounded to decrease noise. A bunch of other things were done that I am now forgetting but are documented in the paperwork that I will include.
Also, I must mention that I am a NASA Certified Soldering Instructor so rest assured, the work done on this unit is impeccable.
Everything that came with the unit is included - power cord, remote, all original packaging and original manual. In addition I am including the Service Manual. It is labelled for the DV-565A-S which is simply the Euro version - NO DIFFERENCE. By all means treat this unit to an upgraded power cord.
This unit is REGION FREE.
As far as the sound, it is amazingly impressive and it takes a LOT MORE expensive player to beat it.
BTW, you probably know that it plays everything except BluRay but what is really impressive is that it can play discs that are unplayable on other players. I've had discs that would not play on my Denon DVD-5910 or Oppo 205 but played on this unit!
