Thoughts on the LM4562 dual op amp.

G'day all, I am a long time fan of DIY audio and particularly the designs of Rod Elliott (ESP).  I am a fan of his P06 phono stage and I have used many different dual op amps in the design.  Laterly I have used OPA2134's exclusively with good results, however in very recent times my P06 has sounded (to me), a little 'boring'.

So mostly on a whim I replaced the second stage OPA2134 with an LM4562 that I had on hand and my DIY P06 has gone from boring, to lively and crisp and 'musical', all apparently the result of using an LM4562.  I have to admit that I have used the LM4562 before and although very low noise, wasn't particularly impressed by it, but I certainly am now!  Why has its use made such a difference now?  Any thoughts?  Regards, Felix.

I use the LM4562 for control applications like feedback, never in the signal path.  Not good enough.  The OPA627 is a bit better, but the AD797 is the best sounding of the three.  Optimum decoupling caps and good voltage regulators are required for each.
