B,

With the Tact pieces of the music I was missing are now there to hear.  The cool thing with the Tact is that if you feel like something is missing, you can create a curve or correction that addresses it.

I am super happy with the Tact and will not go back to a non-corrected system.

George

Thanks G:

Are you using it in analog mode?  Like as a preamp?

I'm just feeling some subtractive effects from the DRC program, and it may be more "flat", but I am not sure it's better in some respects.  Problem is, I can't play with the curves and stuff, as this is one very complicated 52 step procedure that involves convolving and then creating a filter with a batch file.

Nevertheless, it's encouraging.  I will have to keep tweaking.  I am a bit concerned b/c I know my tweeters go to 60K, and even though there isn't anything there really, perhaps any type of correction to 20K or 21K will have a negative impact on this area. . .

Thanks,

B

OMFG!  Please disregard this ENTIRE thread!

I swear.  .  .  Last night after I measured, and found that my freaking Lynx card was malfunctioning, I plugged it back in single-ended, and the damned bass came back.  Not only that, but A LOT of stuff came back.  So this was my problem all along.

Sometimes PC based audio is like VINYL in more ways than one.

:stupid:

Ain't it grand, though? :)

I know , at first you're pissed because of all the time wasted...but it's great to find out the solution didn't require lots of $$ and therapy!!

Don't worry, though, B, I once went over to a friend's house because they couldn't get their turntable working......It was unplugged from the wall.
