Unusual BDP-1 spotted

I ran across this BDP-1 and was hoping James might be able to provide some background on the unit.  It’s not like any DBP I have come across…and I have seen many.  Note what’s missing from the unit, serial number, and * adjacent to the version number.

It appears to be.  I was unaware that such a thing exists.

There are no spdif or AES outputs, only USB.

This unit will work well with an SP3 or BDA3 although the former would be limited to 44.1/16. But, it does have the advantage of surround modes which music sounds excellent from USB..
