I used the original Mind for several months. I got excellent sound quality from it paired with an Auralic Vega. Due to an apparent incompatibility (later found to be an error on my part), I switched to an Auralic Aries (femto version). I would say the sound quality from the two units was very similar -- i.e., no obvious differences between them, no "winner," and both sounding excellent in my system.
My understanding is, the Mind 2 is changed mainly in handling Roon and MQA files. It looks nicer, too. I expect you will get excellent sound from it.
