jitter with dvd vs. cd

Hello all,
this jitter thing has been bugging me lately. From what I could gather, it just simply is..you can't stop it but you can attenuate it. Without spending alot of money on a top notch transport or a 500 dollar doohickey, could one suppose that a low priced dvd with progressive scan (not sure what that is but it sounds good) would induce less jitter than a budget cd player as a transport? Any ideas?
thanks, beat

Progressive scan means that the DVD player outputs information on each video line (typically, the odd lines are output with info, then the even lines are output with info).  I think that DVD players and CD players use the same type of system to output the digital signal, so it's all in the design of the gathering and output of the signal.  So, there's probably not much if any benefit to DVD v. CD players (which isn't to say that some DVD players aren't good transports; I use a DVD player as a transport).
